Another ‘dialogue’ documentary

Following the response on Talking Faith highlighting the relevance of dialogue in interfaith and intercultural relations, the second documentary film “Hearing the Other Side” is now available focusing on Muslim immigrant youth and their encounter with media and identity issues following the assassination of Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh in the Netherlands. The film narrates the experiences of young people and women, and how they are affected by media sensationalism and Islamophopic hype created by some conservative Dutch politicians. What is it that brings the churches and mosques together to counter the stereotypes and challenge the biases attached to faith and cultural identities. To answer this, Hearing the Other Side initiates dialogue by providing an opportunity to hear the voices, not much prominent in the media. Film’s trailer, images and updates are now available on its website www.hearingtheotherside.com.
